Ecotextile News is believed to be one of the most important sources of information on the latest innovations and happenings in the field of sustainability and textiles. The website provides both an electronic journal and a paper magazine available upon paid subscription. There is also a free weekly newsletter automatically sent out to email subscribers. Its paper magazine is claimed to be the most important environmental magazine for the global textile and clothing supply chain and is published six times per year by MCL Global.
Ecouterre is a website devoted to the future of sustainable fashion design. It showcases new and established designers who include social and environmental issues on their agendas. The ethos of Ecouterre is to “follow the evolution of the apparel industry toward a more environmentally sound future, as well as facilitate a conversation about why sustainable fashion matters.” The website was launched in 2009, and today provides a rich news source on a wide range of topics and is continuously updated by numerous writers.
The Guardian holds a news section about the latest feed in the area of sustainable fashion. The blog has two sections, one being an independent column and one being a column provided by H&M, who is a supporting partner.
TED Research runs an active blog on its website that contains news and reflective articles on a wide range of topics in the field of sustainable fashion and textiles.
Mistra Future Fashion is an interdisciplinary research program consisting of eight research projects performed by academics at different universities and centers. The purpose of the program is to generate new insights and solutions that can be used by the Swedish fashion industry and other stakeholders to improve their environmental performances and global competitiveness. The website also contains a news section on sustainability issues pertaining to the textile and fashion industry. In addition, there is a free monthly e-newsletter available upon subscription.
The Sustainable Brands website has a “News and views” section with daily updated news and reflective articles in the field. It also provides a free electronic newsletter upon email subscription.
The Nordic Fashion Association (NFA) is a collaborative effort between ten Nordic fashion organizations, which was launched in 2008. The aim is to facilitate inter-Nordic strategic cooperation and to strengthen the Nordic identity and global positioning of Nordic fashion brands and products. The NFA also has a news section, with updates (a couple of times per month) in the sustainability and fashion field.
The Triple Pundit recently started a new series with the specific purpose to explore the environmental impacts of the apparel industry, the lifecycle of fashion, the influence of consumer demands on the industry, and the sustainable fashion movement as a whole. This new article series is published with the support of Levi Strauss & Co and a number of other companies working towards a more sustainable fashion.
Eco Fashion Talk is the website of Sass Brown, a renowned expert, author, researcher, educator and designer in the field of eco fashion design, as well as Acting Assistant Dean for the School of Art and Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York. Her website features weekly news, primarily about the work of inspirational eco fashion designers. She also provides a free newsletter, containing an overview of the website news, including Designer Features, Resource Listings, Critique and Commentary, Videos and more.
One of the greatest and first experts in the field, Kate Fletcher (Ph.D., consultant, researcher, lecturer, author, and designer), has her own professional blog on the website. Her blog primarily covers her own work, but also features international news on sustainability, fashion design and textiles.
Carmen Artigas is yet another pioneering expert and designer in the field of ethical fashion. Based in New York, Carmen works as consultant in the ethical fashion field, with clients ranging from established brands and trade organizations to start-ups and non-profits, helping them integrate sustainability strategies into their businesses. Also, she holds lectures and develops educational and training programs at top design schools in the United States. Her website contains an inspirational news blog, but she also shares news and raises awareness through her Facebook page Ethical Fashion NY.
