In just a few days, an international seminar on sustainable fashion will be held in Finland, at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Helsinki. The two days’ seminar will provide the latest information on sustainable fashion. Key speaker will be Kate Fletcher, who by many is regarded as the most influential individual in the field of sustainable fashion. Kate Fletcher will host the whole first day of seminar with the title “ABC for Sustainable Fashion”, and will also be the first speaker at the second seminar day, at which she will speak on the subject “Alternative Fashion Systems and the Craft of Use”. A more detailed program is provided by Aalto University.
The two days’ seminar will give many opportunities to learn about and discuss sustainable business models, communication strategies, artisanal/small-studio design practices, consumption patterns, and higher education in the field of fashion. The seminar thus spans a broad scope from fashion design to consumption practices. Speakers are invited from many parts of the world, such as Canada, Oklahoma (USA), United Kingdom, Sweden (Borås), Poland and Finland. Personally, I look forward to listening and learning, and hopefully I will return to Stockholm with new ideas and a deepened understanding of the challenges and prerequisites for more sustainable fashion.
